As a teenager, I was fascinated by the real life Alice and her friendship with eccentric mathematician and photographer, Charles Dodgson. I have recently been revisiting this interest with a new lens after learning that, at the age of 20, Alice spent time with another eccentric photographer—Julia. I am currently writing a novel exploring the art that these two women created together and how Alice may have harnessed her time with Julia to make sense of her experiences as child muse.
