As a teenager, I was especially fascinated by the real life Alice and the relationship that gave rise to Wonderland. A few years ago I learned that at the age of 20, Alice spent time with another eccentric photographer—Julia. I am currently writing a novel exploring the art that these two women created together and how Alice may have harnessed her time with Julia to make sense of her experiences as child muse.
